Application Guidelines

Scholarship’s Mission: The primary purpose of the East Central Alumni & Community Foundation Scholarship is to assist individuals who without financial support may not have the opportunity to attend a post-secondary educational program. This is a one-time scholarship award in the amount of $500 and will be awarded at the end of the recipient’s senior year.

Please note: This is a competitive scholarship program; two (2) scholarships will be awarded for the academic school year.

Scholarship’s Eligibility Requirements: Applicants will be awarded scholarships based on their community and school involvement, academic performance, and personal character.

The East Central Alumni & Community Foundation Scholarship applicants must be:

  1. Graduating from East Central High School during the current academic school year. Applicants must have completed at least 2 years of high school at East Central.

  2. Enrolled (or plan to be enrolled) full-time at an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the fall term following high school graduation.

  3. Currently have a minimum of 2.0 cumulative grade point average (unweighted, on a 4.0 scale).

Application Deadline: Applications must be received or postmarked by April 15th. Faxes will not be accepted. Please turn in the completed application (below). Essays and transcripts can be emailed to the alumni foundation at cardinal@echsfoundation.com.

A completed application includes all of the items listed below:

  2. Activities Form (below)

  3. Personal Essay (topic below): The essay must only be one-page in length, typed on a computer or hand-written. If typed on a computer, the essay must be double spaced and 12-point Times New Roman font. There is no “correct” way to respond to this essay. In writing about something that matters to you, you will convey a sense of yourself, and you let the scholarship review committee know something about you that they may not learn from the rest of your application.

  4. Essay Topic: Describe a proud moment or the overall feeling of being an East Central Cardinal and why you look forward to being an alumnus of this school.
